What to Do for Valentine’s Day in Pittsburgh

Valentine's DayWith Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it’s important to know what your options are for this special day of love. Plenty of things can still be done, even if you haven’t made a dinner reservation or bought tickets yet. You may just get lucky and score a great event or table at a top restaurant, if someone else has cancelled.

Pittsburgh offers plenty of great things to do, even if you don’t’ have someone to share the night with. If you’re single, there are some things you can enjoy and those looking for romance with a partner have plenty of options, as well. Here’s a look at some of the best choices in Pittsburgh for Valentine’s Day this year.

Breakfast in Bed

Held on February 12th, the Breakfast in Bed: All you need is Love celebration will provide a great choice for those 21 and older. It will be held at the Mattress Factory museum with mimosas, Bloody Marys, beer, breakfast and admission to the museum.

Your tickets will include two drinks, a buffet breakfast and access to many of the best museum galleries before they even open for the public. Tickets cost $20 for MF Members.

Take a Cruise

If you’re lucky enough to find an open spot on the Gateway Clipper, you can enjoy a Valentine’s Day cruise on February 11th or 14th. It will start a 6:30pm and will include dinner for two, amazing views of the city and music from a house DJ. Chocolate treats will be a part of the night and there will be a chance to win jewelry, as well.

Full service bars will be available with plenty of cocktails and plenty of great slow songs will be played for dancing close to your special someone. The cruise boards at 5:45pm and the cost is $76.

Dinner for Two

Valentine's Day PittsburghIf you’re still looking for a place for a special Valentine’s Day dinner, you may think all the best restaurants are filled up. However, they get cancellations all the time and find ways to sneak in another two-person table. Some will even have times available either earlier in the day or later at night. Some of the best choices include:

  • Paris 66 Bistro – A great choice with an excellent romantic atmosphere, this restaurant is built for Valentine’s Day.
  • Ruths Chris – You can’t do much better than Ruths Chris when it comes to romance. The steaks are great and the atmosphere will make you feel pampered.
  • Melting Pot – A great choice if you love fondue, the Melting Pot provides some of the best for Valentine’s Day in the city. Enjoy complimentary champagne, a gift bag and plenty of romance packages perfect for a special night out.
  • Grand Concourse – Fresh seafood paired with great wines is what you’ll find at Grand Concourse. They may not have much available, but you may get lucky and find a cancellation here.

If you cannot make it out on Tuesday the 14th, you can consider one of these restaurants over the weekend. Most are providing Valentine’s day specials all weekend long.

Singles Looking for Fun

Maybe you don’t have someone and you’re feeling a bit blue. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be spent at home watching a sappy moving and crying over the fact that you’re single. Instead, you can go out and have all kinds of fun. Here are a few great Valentine’s Day choices for singles.

Lucky in Love Wine & Whiskey Fest “Alcular”

On February 12th from 11am to 5pm, you can enjoy a three-hour wine tasting session at Rivers Casino. There are three session to choose from and many PA wineries will be on hand. Food, fun, chocolate and plenty of wine will be available and everybody gets $10 in free play at the casino and a souvenir wine glass.

The cost ranges from $14.90 to $37 depending on the package you prefer. Sessions include have different prices and there is a discount for two tickets. Couples can go, but expect plenty of singles to be at this event. You can even get a ten pack of tickets for additional discounts.

Valentine’s Day Party

Hough’s Taproom will hold a Valentine’s Day Party from 7pm to 9:30pm for singles. It will include all kinds of fun with Valentine’s cards, candies and plenty of other fun themed things. You can decorate a shoebox and the top three will go home with prizes. Chocolate and beer specials will be provided, along with fun trivia for all to enjoy.

Valentine’s Day Craft Night

LoveYou don’t have to go out and drown your single sorrows in booze. Instead, you can enjoy craft night at The BeerHive and drown your single sorrows in crafts. This can also work as a creative date for those looking to do something a bit different.

You will learn some basics of crafting throughout the night while enjoying plenty of food and drink specials. It’s Tuesday, so it’s Wine Night, as well. This event is for 21 years of age and older.

Cupid’s Undie Run

A bit before Valentine’s Day, the Undie Run will be held on February 11th from 12pm to 4pm. It will start at McFadden’s Pittsburgh and will be a big party of fun. The four-hour party will be about a mile-long fun run to raise money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

Last year the event raised over $3.5 million and has a goal to raise over $4 million this year. This is a great event for those looking to do something different and for groups.

Pittsburgh’s Cupid Chase 5K

Another event held on February 11th, the Cupid Chase will go from 10am to 1pm. It will include a full 5K for runners and walkers to enjoy. The event will be held at PNC Park and will help to raise money for those with disabilities.

There are several great things going on throughout Pittsburgh over Valentine’s Day weekend and on the 14th. Whether you’re with someone or you’re single, you can find something great to do and celebrate love in the process.
